What a lovely gift this must have made, Andor! The golden hues are instantly striking across the vast landscape, the foreground offers pleasing contrast, and the background mountain range with hovering clouds completes the scene very nice. Your lighting is very effective here, and the aperture choice takes advantage of it well enough to give you ample sharpness throughout.

Regards,
Jim

This image "grows on one," Pierre. In other words, the longer I look at it, the more I like it. Your composition draws the eye as we watch the grebe swim into the frame. It seems a tad soft on the left side, perhaps because of the motion, but overall sharpness is very good. I also really like the reflection. The foggy morning only serves to emphasize our attention on the grebe itself.

This is really quite pleasing, Bob. You and the hoar frost worked quite nicely together to show off these tendrils and twigs to excellent effect. The browns and orange of the maple leaves add a fine creative counterpoint to the image, and your point of view as they cascade down from the left side of the image really helps draw us in.

Nice!

An interesting composition, Adrian. I like all the textures in this image and appreciate the work that went into assembling it. It would appear that the top right and bottom center subjects are very similar, although the exposure is not as good on the top right. I certainly appreciate the remembrance of summer; I am very ready for its return :) You have also provided an interesting note about the island.

TFS,
Jim

Hard to dislike, indeed, Dan! Thanks for taking us down to squirrel level and letting us look straight at him. You've got superb clarity in the main, with a hint that the tail might just be twitching a bit. I like that use of the low aperture to really block out all distractions.

This photo is immediately striking for its composition, Nick. You've got the focus perfect for isolating the subject, razor-crisp detail where it needs to be, good look-'em-in-the-eye point of view, and a pleasing position on the branch to draw the eye. Great note, and very nice results with the 7D and that nifty lens and converter.

Perilous shooting conditions, it sounds like, friend Bob, but nothing ventured, eh? :)

I really like all that's going on here, front to back, the snow-limned evergreens (just about always going to love those!), and the nice lighting throughout.

You've got excellent depth of field, of course, and I'm not surprised, given the exposure settings. Interesting that you shot at ISO 800 at almost 10 in the morning -- was the light lower than it would seem here, was the setting quite overcast, or did you have a different reason?

In any case, your usual pleasing result. Glad to be back in the neighborhood and find you continuing to contribute. It's what I'd hoped.

Kind regards,
Jim

A nice tribute, Horia. I like the contrast of the butterfly against the flower, and the good depth-of-field control for the subject of this image. Your choice of settings resulted in excellent sharpness; the point-of-view is effective; and I think the framing, though perhaps not necessary, is understated and tasteful.

Jim

A very nice compilation, Mariana, that really shows off your peacock to advantage. Excellent clarity in all the exposures and a good, informative note.

Well done!

This works well, Vinny. The sharpness is excellent, as is the close-up perspective, and despite battling the snow, the final presentation here renders everything quite well. You've got a a long focal length, but a pretty fast shutter speed, so I'm suspecting you didn't have to do much sharpening in the PP.

Interesting note. Glad you shared this image with us.
