Hi Ashok,
nice, lively, sunny picture of this impressingly beautiful swallowtail. By the way: it is not Papilio machaon, the "Common Yellow Swallowtail", that you captured here so well drinking water at the river, but the considerably larger

"Eastern Swallowtail" Papilio glaucus.

With thanks, and best regards,
Peter

P.S.: Some useful links for identification:

You must have been very close, using that lens. I love the composition and pose of the bird and the shadows give a tension, very nice!
Best regards/Bengt

Well done, Ashok.
One would expect underexposure but it has to be said there's no such sign as the bird's lighting and colours are very good.

Hello Ashok,

that butterfly seems to be the "Common Sailor" (Neptis hylas).
You may have a look:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neptis_hylas

Lovably relaxed gliding flight. Quite hard to take a picture of that sailor as it is shy and restless. And the strong contrast between its dark brown colour and the white spots and stripes always tends to cause overexposure to the white parts. Working with an exposure bias of -0.3 to -0.7 is recommended here, or some postwork level correction on white parts to bring out more details there.

The picture is clear and sharp, well describing.
With thanks, and best regards,
Peter
