What a superb shot of this Kestrel I have tried many times to get a shot of one of these birds when they are hovering but as yet had no luck.

You have everything spot on, exposure, focus depth of field. GREAT

If you like to get birds in flight go to the Chilterns there are lots of Red Kite in the wild and they make a superb subject.
