Hi Peter,

What a pleasant surprise! Welcome to TN!
Your lens teleconverter works v. well together. The picture looks great, ultra sharp showing lots of details of the transition plumage pattern.
I do not need Sibley anymore for juvenile Semipalmated ;-).
The bird looks somehow sad or maybe is just concentrated to find his food.

Mario

Hi Zeno,

Very nice composition with the bird perching and checking on you before going with the food to his nest. Well done and good use of the 2X converter.

Regards, Mario

Hi Serge,

Good picture of the Common Yellowthroat. Well managed exposure and fill flash.
These are very agrsive little birds and will come to check on you if you Pish-Pish to them.

Hi Gert,

Very interesting bird and very well done.
Just to sound like a critique I would suggest that one stop wider aperture and a lower POV would probably improved your picture a bit.
Easy to say hard to do in the field. Your picture shows the bird very fine anyway. TFS this beauty.

Hi Zeno

A very interesting place Lesvos, a real birding hotspot. I wish I could have a vacation there.
The bird you posted is a real beauty but almost impossible to photograph well in hard light. You managed very well with good compromise between white and black tones.
Personally I would under expose at list 1/3 and try afterward to lighten the darks in PP. Apparently human eye is more sensitive to the details in the light areas.

Hi Chris,

What I apreciate the most at your pictures is haw well you always manage the light;
never a shade, never a burned out detail even in difficult subjects like this black and white bird.
Jugging from your pictures, your island looks like a huge photo studio with perfect lighting conditions but
I know is not always like that and haw difficult could bee to shoot in very strong light. Very well done.
I see you have got a 500mm - I wish many god pictures with it!

Hi Mircea,
This is a very good photo. Clean, interesting bird, good pose and lots of details. the problem is that on my monitor(calibrated wit Spyder) looks dark.
I think your monitor might be to bright. I made an workshop adjusting levels and saturation.
