Hi Dietrich,
Very spectacular shot. Except for the lower wings, tack sharp with incredible details, while background is well blurred to gain the attention on the dragonfly only. Onee of the best photos from the series. Bravo!

Ciao Silvio,
Interesting image with the little butterfly composed so closed to the edge of the frame, and in the direction of their look is just big blurry space... Great experiment with this type of composition, but as the butterfly's tack sharp, the visual effect works and I like the photo very much. Even with the slight blue overcast.

Beautiful little treasure on a spectacular, high-contrast photo. Details are fantastic. But didn't you want to write 'pentadactyla' instead of 'pendactyla'?

Hi Luciano,
This photo almost confused me as I thought the butterfly is captured with semi-opened wings. Of course, while seeing the details of the upper wing we must realize the model's wings are closed... Absolutely greaat optical effect! I like the overall environment also, that you caught the Speckled Wood in their natural habitat, in a predominantly shady forest with sunny spots. Rulebreaker composition also, as the butterfly looks out of the frame, while they aare composed into a third. The image, also seems simplistic, is a unique and magnificent one. Hats off for you!

Hi Biswarup,
Nice macro shot with spectacular composition, great lights, sharpness and colors. Beside the "eye contact" I especially like how the wings form a semi-diagonal line in the frame. Very good shot, congratulations!

Hi Ahmet,
If you need ID help, please try to focus on the mushrooms - on this photo it rather looks like the grass-blades are the main subjects. And please also photograph, and post as a workshop, a photo of the trama (gills, pores etc.) as it's an essential element in identifying. Anyway, from the fasciculate appearence of the fruitbodies, the color, stem width and the special cap texture I think the species on your pic is Desarmillaria tabescens (Scop.) R.A. Koch & Aime, but I can't be fully sure without having a look at the gills. The named species is common in late summer / early autumn on trunks of deciduous trees.

Hi Marine,
Nice shot, good colours and lights, but the photo could be sharper a bit, focus is soft. A pity, because the composition's good and the image would be spectacular with good sharpness. Next time, also enclose a note, please - otherwise how would we know what's on your pic?

Hi Seyfi bey,
Good to see you and your extraordinary photos on TN again. Please come more regularly... Fantastic shot of a butterfly, which is a closed relative of our well-known swallowtail, but belongs to a different species. Sharpness is breathtaking, and together with the classical composition they immediately bring home the bacon. ☺ Absolutely the photo of the day for me! Bravo!

Hi Pierre,
Although the left wings of the painted lady are not the sharpest (seems the focus was rather on the flower than on the wings), generally a good macro shot. The shallow depth is nice, as well as the tack sharp antennae. Fine colors and lights, too.

Hi Hasan,
Good photo, not only the berries, but the lights filtered by the leaves are very nice, too. Off-centered composition is fine, maybe a bit tighter crop should be done as well, with a little play with lights in Photoshop. Nice shot, anyway.

Hi Anne,
Lovely shot, especially because this species is hard to photograph in my opinion. Perfect sharpness and details. Colorwise IMHO a bit undersaturated, but with excellent shallow DoF and most of all, composition. Beautiful macro, congratulations!

Hi Sri,
Beautiful kingfisher, like a flying little gem (not even that little, as I just read on wikipedia ☺). Your photo's gorgeous, the lack of sunlight (at least I guess you haven't had much) was compensated with the perfect exposure. Lovely composition with eye contact - again one of your "must see" images! Bravo!
