[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here a first actual upload from the mediteranenean,this shot is made about an hour ago from my vessel the stella maris presently underway from alicante to augusta,I had some difficulties finding out which country to choose for upload but I chose algeria as this is the land closest to our present position,the weather is heavely overcasted and the ship is rolling on the SWly swell.
found this bird on or deck resting and made a few shot,I guess it is a migrant to the north and uses our vessel as rest station.

took this handheld,cropped a bit,resized and sharpened before upload.

Amazing what passengers you get aboard your ship! Excellent capture of this fluffy little Lark(?) showing sharp details and lovely colours. No doubt Ivan will get the ID right!!

Hello Paul,
Nice capture of a very tired Skylark. This bird shows up well against the red deck.
The slight crest that skylarks normally show is flattened against the head becaus he is too tired to show it.

interessant verhaal bij je foto. Schepen zijn namelijk nog een compleet onderbelicht en waarschijnlijk zeer interessante bron van kennis bij vogeltrek. Als je bedenkt wat er allemaal op schepen gezien kan worden en geregistreerd. Daar zouden onderzoekers jaloers op kunnen worden.
Ik heb zelf 8 jaar in fundamenteel zeeonderzoek gewerkt en heel wat jaren op zee doorgebracht. Daarbij ook erg leuke dingen gezien in dit verband. 16 Blauwe reigers zo'n 300 mijl ten zuiden van IJsland. Menig zanger langs het europees continentaal plat, waaronder sneeuwgorzen, kleine vliegenvanger, paapjes, waterral (die trouwens door het raam van de kombuis naar binnen vloog en op het aanrecht bleef zitten) en nog vele andere die ik al weer vergeten ben.
Leuk om bij te houden. Een Veldleeuwerik is ook een mooie soort. Laat voor zuid en midden europa. Misschien een zweedse?
