It is a soil fungus, which infects by penetrating palm root system and propagate by roots contact from one palm to another.
It was originally identified and described by N.T.Patouillard, who was the initiator of the modern classification of basidiomycetes in general and, in particular, the individualization of group polypore true.

The camera is set to aperture Priority mode with a sensitivity equivalent to ISO-200. Given the modest illumination, the opening was set at f/5.6. With a focal length of 8 mm., speed was calculated at 1 / 56 th. |

Bonjour Philippe,
Fantastic macro of a tropical Ganoderma species I've never seen before. Sharpness, colors and compo are second to none. However, the current scientific name is Ganoderma orbiforme (Fr.) Ryvarden. Thanks for sharing this species (I think the 1st time on TN) and for teaching me something new.
Friendly regards, László
