Unknown flower

ecology and location

I have encountered this flower in a forest area at the roadside, nearby Kisangani. DRC is Its Localisation, in orientale province of the country.

Actinomorphic flowers. Green small discrete sepal. White petals. We can see 5 unattached petals , which are identical. It is a flower from type 5 (pentamerous flower) dialypetals.

Dissotis rotundifolia (Sm.) is a small perennial plant whose stems are between 60-90 centimeters. The stems are quadangulaires. Its leaves are opposite, oval and hairy. The flowers are white. They are equipped with several stamens and false stamens, as shown in the photograph. The flowers are isolated or grouped in small panicle with few flowers.

This plant belongs to the family of Melastomaceae . It is relatively common in Africa, ordinarily, in tropical and equatorial humid areas.

This plant is known in traditional medicine. Studies in Ghana, for example, have attributed to the plant of many virtues: abdominal pain, diarrhea, poisoning, gonorrhea, rheumatism, prenatal medicine, colds, asthma, oliguria, orchitis.

The picture

The picture was taken early morning when the sunshine light was not yet intense. With a sensitivity equivalent to ISO-80 and an aperture of f/3.5, the speed was 1/60, with a focal length of 6 millimetres.

Post treatment

Re cropping and resizing ; improvement of the gamma and the sharpness with Olympus studio. Treatment of the pixelisation trough neat image.
