[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here I was in Tsavo natural park, as a beautiful green landscape stretched before my eyes. A family of red elephants was roaming around( they are known as red elephant due to the reddish taint they aquire after taking mud baths in clay soil)their colors contrasting beautifully with the surrounding greenery.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a single gray elephant was in site, which was fairly unusual as they tend to be red and in a group. Lone elephants are usualy very old and were cast out of their herd.
I was very interested to see what the reaction on the part of the other family might be, and both groups stood there for a while, silently facing each other at a distance. Out of nowhere, one of the red elephants (the biggest one I believe) starts marching towards the elderly one, and to my great surprise, they started marching together. I thought this was a moment of great significance, and I am happy to now be able to share this experience with you, enjoy!

Hi Raphael,

This re-post is better than the original picture, I think the elephant look more impressive, kind of "eternal", with more environment around them.

Thanks for sharing :)
Odile

Bonjour Raphael,
Il est certain que cette image à plus de force en laissant du champ dans le déplacement de ces éléphants.
Belle image.
Amitiés
Serge

Hello Raphael,
A wonderful story and an even better photo of the event. I don't know if I have ever seen an elephant covered so completely in red mud like this one of yours. A great shot showing excellent detail and beautiful natural coloration. Well done!!
Ron
