[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
EN: yellow-necked francolin
FR: francolin à cou jaune
NL: geelkeelfrankolijn
Lat: Francolinus leucoscepus
The yellow-necked francolin:
It is a species of bird in the Phasianidae family. It is found in Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. This species is named for the yellow patch found on it's neck. Males of this species have been noted to have spurs on the back of their legs. It has been noted that this bird is most active at dawn and dusk. The bird is also noted to be very adaptable, it can continue to live in land after agriculture begins, it only leaves lands when heavy human occupation begins.
The shot:
It was dangerous to get out of the car there. Luckily for me the ground was higher than the road. So just from shooting from the windows it was already a low enough angle.
... on a side note: first yellow-necked francolin on TN. :)
Thanks for looking,

hello neighbour, nice contrasty portrait, TFS Or
Bonne photo d'un bel oiseau que je ne connais pas. Je pense que cet aspect enpoussierré pourrait etre attenué et la netteté ameliorrée.
Hello Jean!
A very nice shot of this beautiful Francolin. Nice catch-light in the visible eye, very good lateral POV, great DOF and fine natural colors. I guess that you were not able to get an ideal focus down the throat because of some grasses between your subject and lens. It is still a very well taken shot,
TFS,
