Agama Lizard

|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I found this Agama lizard (Agama agama ) in Lake Nakuru Kenya. During the breeding season the male becomes very colorful, the head becoming red and the body becoming blue. And during non-breeding season, it looks dull brown.
The dominant male rules over the submissive males and females and it gets the prime position in the rock for sunning (http://switchzoo.com/profiles/agamalizard.htm )
Luckily I was in Lake Nakuru during the breeding season and saw this lizard popping its head out of the rock. The red and blue combination was quite attractive. Enhancing the contrast helped to sharpen the head color. |
