FIRST TIME ON TN

A kind of lemur not easy to find because it is always hidden and immobile among the plants during the daylight hours, this time I was lucky.

Class: Mammalia
Order: Primates
Suborder:Strepsirrhini
Family: Lepilemuridae
Genus: Lepilemur
Species:L. tymerlachsoni

The Nosy Be lepilemure or Hawk lepilemure (Lepilemur tymerlachsoni Louis, 2006) is a nocturnal endemic lemur of Madagascar, considered to be in danger of extinction. Measure up to 68 cm in length, while remaining usually just above half a meter: of these, up to 27 cm belong to the tail. The hair is uniformly brownish-gray, with reddish hues in the upper part of the back and whitish in the ventral part. There are areas with light brown shades on the shoulders, legs and tail. On the back there is a black band that from the back of the head is interrupted at the level of the back.
The eyes, big and reddish, and the muzzle are wrapped in a grayish-black mask. The ears are very small, attached laterally to the skull and slightly folded to "U" inverted in the terminal part. It has mainly nocturnal habits. It spends the daytime hours inside cavities in the trunk of the trees. The species is endemic to the island of Nosy Be, where it populates areas of rainforest and deciduous.

Hello Luciano,
Indeed a lucky moment. I don't remember if I've seen it in 2003, when I was there. I made slides then of less quality. Beautiful photo in good sharpness.
Regards,
Peter

Hello Luciano,
another interesting image with such a nice specie. Details, colors and focus are perfect as usual.
Marius.

The eyes are the best feature of this Lemur and you have captured them well in your picture, Luciano.

Hello Luciano,
Congratulation 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 again for New species.
Well captured with nice big eyes. Tight crop good idea.
Thanks and regards,

Bonjour Luciano,

Pierre
