Soooo beautiful, Horia, it's fascinating that such a wonderful flower can grow in the sand - without water and in the hot sun ... beautiful.
And there's a little fly as a bonus inside, lovely.
Thanks and enjoy the Christmas-time

Your describe the missing links between disjunct populations of Androcymbium (Colchicaceae) in Africa very aptly.
I have never been to Morocco and - I believe - there is still a lot of the history of this country to be studied; and so is also the flora and fauna.
The nearly square layout of your photo is unusual and interesting - the geometry eased by the single long leave pointing towards 9 o'clock.
I am glad you did not sharpen the image but kept the natural, mellow light of the desert.
The plant is perfectly captured and presented.

What an attractive subject: alive and very beautiful flowers among the dead but so impressive sands. Wide DOF is great. You managed to show all features and beauties of the flowers perfectly. Lights and shadows as well as bright colours are also superb and surroundings strengthen the esthetic impression. Well done and TFS. A Happy Holiday Season.

A very fine Colchicacea growing out of the reddish sand. Very nice to mention the funny common-names. Interesting posting showing a plant we don't see often on the site.
Thanks and all my best wishes to you and Mariana for a Happy New Year

This a beautiful, unusual plant, and a very attractive image of it with excellent exposure, as well as being very sharp. The plant looks like something that should be growing in a much less arid environment, as many desert plants seem to be. And your note is very informative too!

What a beautiful little flower you captured growing in the sand. I'm always amazed where flowers can grow and bloom. The lighting is at a nice angle, which shows off the shape an colour so well. A very nice portrait.
