[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Procavia capensis:
It is a medium-sized (~4 kg) terrestrial mammal, superficially resembling a guinea pig with short ears and tail. The rock hyrax is found across Africa and the Middle East, in habitats with rock crevices in which to escape from predators. Hyraxes typically live in groups of 10–80 animals, and forage as a group. Their most striking behaviour is the use of sentries: one or more animals take up position on a vantage point and issue alarm calls on the approach of predators.

The rock hyrax has incomplete thermoregulation, and is most active in the morning and evening, although their activity pattern varies substantially with season and climate.

Hello Pierre,
Very nice photo of this Rock Hyrax in great sharpness and beautiful natural colours. Taken from a good POV against a nice blue sky in the BG.

Bonjour Pierre,
Un animal que je ne connais pas bien et à l'aspect un peu spécial. Ici, probablement une mère avec son petit. Un peu de bruit à l'arrière-plan, mais une créature rarement montrée sur ce site.
Bonne semaine!

Hi Pierre.
I like the picture of these dassies very much. However, I would have got rid of the disturbing OOF branches as they do nothing for the photo. The noise in the background does not bother me but maybe will some members here. I did a workshop and also took out some spots which may have been caused by dust on the lens. Hope you don't mind the WS. Definitely worth my two points.

Hello Pierre,
Very interesting animal, a beautiful scene. Bravo!
