[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
We saw this lion when we visited the Okapuka Game Park, a private game reserve just outside of Windhoek.
Full disclosure: This is cheating. Although the game reserve is mostly a natural environment, the lions are in a separate enclosure and feed them every day at the 'lion bar'. The tourists are behind a huge cement wall with a hole in it so photos can be taken.
So, the series of shots I got from there gave me some nice close-ups, but I don't like them near as much as my Botswana lions. My memory of these lions pales in comparison to seeing wild lions walking right next to our vehicle - it's simply a completely different experience. I'm not a fan of zoos, and although this is one step up (much larger space for the animal), it was not really a favourite moment of mine on our trip.
Sharpened, added some red with PS.
Oh, and check out the world's worst cloning PS job to get rid of the trees in front in my workshop. I wish I'd used a different DOF here to blur them out more. |

Too cropped (you pushed the artistic a notch too far) but is still a cool image .
Great shot, I don't think it's too cropped I like it this way.
Well done.
