A photograph of the mountains of the Sahara, Niger. Despite their appearance, these mountains are places of intense animal life and to a lesser degree, botany. The photograph is taken above the general erg Bilma.
In Niger, this kind of geological facies is relatively common: the presence of heavily eroded mountains and traversed by rivers temporary (wadis where the floods are sudden and devastating). These mountains whose height is a few hundred yards seem to be deposited in the immensity of the Saharan sands.
Photography
First feature of the photo: it was taken from an airplane at 10,000 feet (30,000 meters) altitude and a speed of 900 kilometers per hour.
Given these parameters and illumination conditions of the moment, the opening was set at f / 6.3 with a shutter speed of 1 / 450 th of a second. The sensitivity was equivalent to iso-200. The focal length is 20 mm.
Ultimate precision: color photograph taken and then converted into black and white using the post processing.
