I came across this juvenile Hawksbill turtle while snorkeling around a very tiny secluded Island in the Seychelles called Cocos. I was able to get a boat ride out there while volunteering with the rangers on the island of Curieuse.

The Seychelles is a small island nation located in the Indian Ocean northeast of Madagascar and about 1,600 km (1,000 miles) east of Kenya. The number of islands in the archipelago is often given as 115 but the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles lists 155.

I stayed on the island of Mahé for most of the summer of 2006, doing marine conservation work. But also stayed on Curieuse for a week. The scenery was beautiful & the diving was incredible - including time in the water with the amazing Whale Sharks!

Hi Margo,

A not that often photographed animal on TN,well captured with nice colors, sharpness and detail, tfs

I love this photo. There's wonderful details in the face and the water adds to the overall effect. The photo is crisp, and even better, I love the ripples above this little guy. What I like most is the fact he is free. Lovely composition and exposure. You nailed this shot. Congrats!

Hi Margo,
excellent capture. I like especially POV and so its looking face. Details, sharpness, POV and coloration great. good notes. Thanks a lot for sharing us.
best wishes

Fotografia espectacular.
La nitidez de la imagen, los colores y como se ve la superficie me llamaron mucho la atención.
No solo la oportunidad del momento, es la calidad de la imagen.

Dear Mago,
This nose to nose photo is amazing. I would be honestly afraid to be minus my nose after such an encounter! The way they nip off a piece of coral and then crunch it, your nose would not have a chance, except your camera protects your face :-)

I add your turtle to my theme " under and above the seas and lakes"
Thanks for sharing.
Warm greetings from the Tzaneen Dam in Limpopo, South Africa
