Scarlet Ibis - Chick (Eudocimus ruber)

With all the discussion on how the little one would look between the white and red ibis I decided to post this one I have of the Scarlet ibis chick. He did not have enough seefood yet to colour the feathers the bright red.

Sorry about the mum's bum still in the frame.

A funny title for a funny shot!
Is that the new lens you got?
A good choice serving a great composition.
Very well done indeed.

Very nice shot of this young one, Gerhard. I dit not know the chicks were black. Nice!!

What a cool photo, our serial shaggy little friend is growing up a lot (... of lint, hehehe). Cheers for sharing the fruit of your artistic efforts with us ! Sometimes I envy you so much for living in Africa even though I shouldnt complain, California isnt a bad place either but the call of the wild isnt around the corner like in your case ...

I guess that is why he is a shrimp ( seafood)...sorry couldn't resist that! I think the Scarlet Ibis chick is much cuter than the White. This is a FABULOUS image of the chick. A rare chance to see one up-close and personal. Thank you for posting this awesome capture, Gerhard. It really completes "our" little family of Ibises across the globe!

Beautiful and cute shot, Gerhard. Nice follow up to the interesting series of ibis from different members and places. Thanks for sharing with us.

Funny title and very good shot. Black scarlet ibis :-) I've never seen this species as a chick. Thanks for sharing picture and knowledge!

Very nice shot great pose.
Well done.

Hi Gerhard
Good composition. The B&W of the chick gives a nice contrast. So will this chick end up the same colour as the bum?
