[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
"Did you notice that there are no mature rams in the camp? I think that is because the male lambs are taken out of the camp by the rangers soon after they get their horns. I know that the bushbuck ram is a sly and brave little fighter. I have read reports of both man and leopard that was killed by bushbuck rams. Apparently they can be very dangerous, especially when wounded."
Jan-Hendrik van Rooyen
This is a critique from Jan-Hendrik on my previous Bushbuck post.
Jan Hendrik is a great nature photographer and critiquer.
I don't know whether this ram is mature or not but the ram was definitely inside the camp.
I had no idea this one could be dangerous.

Hi Annick,

He does not look fully mature, but he is getting there. The problem is that they just walk right back into the camp if they get removed, whether they are welcome or not, as I'm sure this one has. I think this guy might eventually be in trouble if he does not get the message. As far as I know the Parks Board do not like the rams in the camp, and I hope this guy got the message.

A nice post with a very good photo. Well done. Thanks for this great dedication Annick. I am touched.

You can also do some reading on the habits of the bushbuck here and here for more information.

Hi Annick. It looks to cute to be dangerous but you can never be sure. All the same you got a very good close up of the face with its horns , and big black eyes. Very natural colour and detail in the fur. well done TFS.
Nick..

A beautiful animal and a beautiful portrait Annick, as usual it is a great pleasure to behold your nature studies my friend, thank you indeed for sharing them with us.

Hello Annick

Another beautiful portrait. The sharpness and details are awesome.
Lovely eye contact and detail like two finely polished ebony globes.
The catch light defines the eyes well.
There seems to be a bit of attitude in the expression of this fellow.
The colours are natural and well saturated.
Well done.

Hi Annick,

An animal that is not seen often and if seen they usually dissapear before a photo can be taken. This image is super sharp and detailed and he is probably just moving out of the penkop stage.

Hi Annick

Another impressive portrait from the master and this time a noble dedication to another great member here - Jan-Hendrik.
The full-frontal POV is remarkable and it brings with it a special feeling to the photo, thanks to the direct eye-contact.
The details and DOF are again "the Annick special" = superb and spot-on, while the exposure and colors are simply just as it should be.

BRAVO and TFS

No, he's not a dangerous buck - he's a cute, sweet, young teenager...

But I will admit, that look he has in his left eye and the slight snare on his right lip and nose, do have a bit of a sly young fighter!!

Great shot Annick
