Captured in South Africa. Saw this creature a number of times here on trek and it was high on my list to capture. People in the B&B/lodge thought there was a mad women chasing around. But here the result hope some other fanatics can enjoy

I love the way a mantis always looks slightly ticked off... they always make wonderful subjects!! good capture, here... it's a little soft and it would have been nice to see the whole mantis, but good colors and pose... thanks for sharing! -laurita

Hi Reina,

Hi Reina,
Nice macro. Good compo. Sharpness is fading out a bit. Nevertheless a good result.
Thx and regards, Ruud

Hi Reina
Welcome back. What you have here is the Praying mantis - Polyspilota aeruginosa.
Interesting composition with the low POV, the colours are quite natural, and the DOF is a little shallow (probably brought on by the fact that you chose to get real close and focused on the frontal body only where a full bodied shot would have been more forgiving at f/18). The exposure was well managed and it shows nice contrasts.
Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

"Mad" woman got a good shot of the Praying Mantis. Good composition Reina, especially with teh sky behind him. It could be a bit sharper, but you managed the colours and pose very well, TFS
