[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Greater Kestrel (or White-eyed Kestrel), Falco rupicoloides, is a sedentary bird of South and East Africa. It lives alongside the Rock Kestrel, and although larger there is little to distinguish the two behaviourally. It more similar in appearance to the Fox Kestrel however, differing in less reddish hue, a more spotted pattern, and most significantly in tail coloration, which is nearly pure fox red in the Fox, and dark gray with black bands in the Greater Kestrel.

Your composition is faultless and the detail on the face captivating. She is a true beauty.
Thank you for posting.

Hi Paul,
A great looking image of the very proud looking Kestrel. The colour of the bird looks great against the sky colour. All the detail in the birds feathers can be seen clearly due to the good quality of the image. Nice.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hi Paul,
The light in this is really striking. Fantastic detail you've captured and the side-on POV has allowed everything to stay within the DOF. Really nice image.

Composition, colours, sharpness! all perfect
Tom

Hey Paul,

This is a very clear shot and the detail on the feathers is sumptuous. The light is awesome and has really brought out the colour, good timing and preparation on you part. I think your point of view is excellent and you've made a great job of nailing the composition with a tight crop and use of the branch to make an interesting diagonal. The glint in the eye is nice. Contrast is really good between light and dark areas helping the bird to stand out off the page. Of course, it is also exposed perfectly :)

Fantastic to have the opportunity to see such amazing birds in the wild, you've very lucky. Great stuff, you have some superb work. Keep it up.

TFS
