This frog is mesmerised by the colours and beauty of Gods creations...

The frog - A Painted Reed Frog
THESE are perhaps the most enchanting creatures you could hope to see in your garden. The painted reed frog is a diminutive fellow all of 2-3cm long.

Hyperolius marmoratus, as it is known by its Latin name, is found commonly over South Africa, but its colours vary from region to region.

The colour of the spots and the general skin area varies according to the frog's mood and the surrounding environmental conditions.

These frogs reside mainly, as their name suggests, on reeds near water, but they also frequent agapanthus flowers and other plants as long as there is enough water nearby.

They eat insects and are great consumers of mosquitoes and midges.

Frogs are amphibious which means that they require a watery environment for the first stage of their life cycle and then live mainly on land in the adult phase.
