[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We have been driving in the rain since 05h30, when the gates of the rest camp opened. We were going to the kill-site of the previous day, to see whether there were still lions or maybe other predators around, when we encountered this obliging specimen. We must have seen more than a 100 storks on this trip, all of them slowly getting ready for the long trek back to Poland? – not so, Greg! The rain had abated a little while, and this guy, or lady, was busy working the worst of the drizzle out of his plumage. For once on this trip, the sun came to the party, and lightened the subject beautifully in the early morning light.
This is the White Stork, a common summer visitor to SA. We also have a small breeding population in the Western Cape.

Excellent pose Callie. She looks likes you interrupted her in the middle of her morning wash time. Nice and sharp too. Good job!

Good catch.
It looks like after a combat, it is all messed up.
What happened to its white plumage? it looks very grey.

Who hung out the tatty feather duster, Good capture, love the look in the face and the highlight in the eye. As you say just about ready to deliver that fresh crop of babies due in euroupe ;0))

Dag Callie,
Hij staat hoog op zijn poten maar kijkt juist om voor de fotograaf, het is prachtig opnieuw hoe u deze vogel heeft kunnen fotograferen, met prachtige kleuren en excellent scherp.
Mooi werk opnieuw!

Nat agter die ore, en die res! This is a great capture. It has the look on its face of "Please, not now, I havent dried my hair!"

The composition is excellent and I like the lighting a lot.

Very well done and thanks for posting

Very interesting POV, Callie. The light is just right... brightening the facial details in the ambience. It looks like a real "dirty bird" though. :) I didn't know we had a breeding population here in SA. Great shot, well done.

Superb one.
Taken by the back, but the bird was nice to look at your lens!
Great details indeed.
These birds are really known in France, 'cause they are symbol of Alsace, a north-eastern region in France.
Congratulations.
