Day 19. Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Conversely, males tend to live alone or in small groups with individuals that transition in and out of the group, but the males tend to stay within their natal range. Mature males only join female groups when sows are in heat. Males are not territorial, but will fight among themselves for mating opportunities during breeding season, sometimes inflicting significant and serious wounds with tusks.

Hi Annick
She is beautiful and ugly at the same time :-) Great perfectly sharp portrait. Good contrast, and OOF background
I like it very much

Hello Annick,
Fantastic shot. You have turned it into a beauty in your picture.:)perfect shrpness and etails. I like the way you have been abe to capture all those hairs on its head and neck. Is it a beard? I liked the expression on its face, so calm and relaxed. Excellent POV and DOF. Thanks for this beautiful picture,
P.S: I am adding it to Anil's intimate portraits.

Wow! What a monster!
Amazing shot with perfect quality. I think this photo is your success.

HI Annick,
I am sure that Pumba would be proud to see this pic :). another masterpiece from Kruger park. TFS

What terrific detail! The image is sharp, the dof is soft, and great contrast between the soft, natural setting (grass) and the heavy image of the warthog - scars and all. Awesome photo.

Hi Annick.
I am shaken. It is fantastic. I do not know photo model more photogenic than this one. It is brilliance. Bravo. my friend. The best portrait I have ever seen anywhere (not only animal).

Hi Annick,
Oh Wow! This is so cool!
Beautiful portrait I'll have to put in my favorites if you don't mind. Close to perfect in all respects.

Hoi Annick,
Een pracht foto met eigenlijk best wel een vriendelijke uitdrukking van het zwein. het detail en de helderheid van deze foto zijn echt super. Ik denk dat je behoorlijk moeilijk licht had om mee te werken.

Close encounters eh? Well close enough with 400 but still.. We had some in Russian Hogs in Mendocino County which were imported in the late 1800's and they live among the redwoods...Very aggressive against humans...there is seriously an open hunting season in fall which is unusual for Mendocino...your best looks a tad more rough..crystal clear..almost too clear:-)

Bonsoir Annick
Je vous ai encore reconnu ! Pas sur la photo, bien sûr, mais quant à sa qualité, toujours irréprochable.

Oh my! ...a face only a mother could love. Your photo however, makes even this guy look somewhat endearing. The sharpness and details are fantastic. I love the simplicity of the shot... nothing but absolute essentials... Mr. Hog and a simple but subtle background in a perfect color.

Hi Annick, this is definately a WOW shot. This shows your technical expertise and your creative eye. How could this be a better shot, I don't think it could. Fantastic close up with such fine and sharp detail in the Water Hog's hair and lashes. Great texture on the skin, wonderful expression on the face. Perfect focus, exposure and colours. Excellent pov and composition.

Hello Annick

A superb portrait, looks like that fellow from the Disney movie.
Excellent lighting and natural colours.
The focus is spot on with wonderful details.
Great job.

Hi Annick
Really cool portrait of this guy :)

the pony express!!
one of my favourite animals in the wild and full of comic tendencies as you see them scurry through the long grass in line, antennae erect!

good close up..i only got this close in a giraffe centre where a few were lying around on the ground in the feeding compound.

sharp detail everywhere except the background of course..and that enigmatic look..second only to the wildebeeste

cheers geof

Hello Annick,
I'm back now and good to see you again. :-)
What did you bring here? It's a "Pumbaa" in disney's the lion king. Where is a little meerkat "Timon"? :D)
I could say, "HAKUNA MATATA". :-)

Very nice portrait shot of this Pumbaa, with excellent details and sharpness.
I love this shot very much. Actually, I really envy your gallery which is truly precious and valuable.
Thanks for sharing this lovely photo.
Best wishes,

Hello Annick,
A wonderful portrait of an amazing animal!
The fine light renders great details, and the colour palette gives a well balanced and natural impression...
The subject is nicely isolated from the background!
