An impala (Aepyceros melampus Greek aipos "high" ceros "horn" + melas "black" pous "foot") is a medium-sized African antelope. The name impala comes from the Zulu language. They are found in savannas and thick bushveld in Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, northern Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, southern Angola, northeastern South Africa and Uganda (the source of that country's capital city's name - Kampala).

Lovely soft light gives this image a special quality. Is that you I see in the catchlight of her eye? Once again the colors are divine. The crop feels just a little tight on the top and left but not seriously so.

Evelynn : )

very nice capture, beautiful colors and sharpness.great job!!

Great detail,
Such soft and pretty eyes,
Great image,

Another outstanding National Geographic quality image. As always, the pose is well captured and soft background makes the subject stand out.

Hi Annick,
Nice sharp image in good light.Lovely catchlight in the eyes.Lovely creamy Background. As for the crop personally i may have cropped more to make it a portrait ( Just my personal choice).

Hi Annick

I have been to Kampala but didn't know the origin of its name (one highlight is a colony of marabous nesting in the middle of a traffic island in the city centre).

Great pose and excellent detail. I alo very much like the lighter BG.

Hi Annick,

Beautiful portrait of the impala, what a great depth of field, he's in excellent focus from the nose to his back. Lovely natural colours with superb details in the fur. Nice blurry background which matches very well with the subject. Very well done!

Hi Annick,
Beautifully captured mammal. I like the details of the head and eyes which are very sharp in details. You managed to do great work. This one is very handsome and you managed great exposure on head, perfect lighting at the right moment. Nicely composed. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards,

Hi Annick,

Nice protrait of impala with a wonderful background! Thank you,

Hallo Annick,

groet Gert

Nice shot Annick.
Very sharp and detailed with excellent clarity.
Lovely warm tones and good exposure.
Excellent composition.
Perfect DOF.
Very well done,

Annick, Lovely photograph. I can see the eyelids of the deer. The catch light in the eyes add a glint to the expression. There could be a bit of blue cast due to shadow lighting that is making the colors a bit dull.
Regards, Murali Santhanam
