[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Red-headed weaver(Anaplectes rubriceps)

In the morning instead of leaving the camp I stayed to photograph some of the bird activity which is always excellent in Letaba, especially during spring time when the birds are nesting.

The entrance and the exit of the nest is down under.
This male is either checking the shop customers (It's photographed in front of Letaba's shop) or convincing a female weaver to visit his real estate.

More info and photos of the Red-headed weaver can be found in my theme: "Red-headed weaver"

Thanks for looking...

ISO rate = 1600 and this is a 50% crop

Hello Annick,

What a pov, from the bird as well!
This is entrancing. I don't think I have ever seen a bird is such a contorted position!

Your plummage details are excellent and I like the composition.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Annick

Another beautiful shot of this elusive little Red-headed weaver. I say elusive, because of my personal experience with these birds. I have seldom seen any and when I had the luck, they always stayed well within the thickets and branches so I could never get a nice clear shot of one. Good eye contact with the bird twisting its head through the 180 to have a good look at you (or was it the shoppers?).

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hello Annick, WOW another good one. Superb colors and good focus. I like the bird focus on the eyes and the way it is hanging. Well done and TFS Ganesh

Hi Annick,
A wonderful photo with a great pose of this lovely bird. I love the soft light conditions and how it brought out the orange of the bird even more. The whites might be a bit too hot on exposure, but I can understand the difficulties you had to deal with.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Annick

Ohh...this is lovely!
The vivid red of the weaver stands out so beautifully here and the pose you managed to capture it in is just outstanding!
Again a splendid (and also bold) composition, my friend...but you are the man for such things! I always love the way you frame your photos!
...And since you managed, under these condition (high ISO and crop), the quality and clarity of the shot are terrific!

Bravo and TFS
