I need a break from the birdies, and thought maybe you too, so I browsed some of the pictures in the larder. This is a mug shot, once again, Gerhard, of a lovely young cheetah. They have the habit of laying flat on their sides, and raising the head to look around. It looks SO uncomfortable to bend the neck ninety degrees to the body, but they do it with no apparent discomfort. I have written a lot already on this cat in the previous posts, this one is just for the eyes and the light on the fur. As a WS, I posted one in profile, busy drinking at the man-made little drinking dam, as we call it – drink dammetjie in Afrikaans.

I wasn't getting bored of the birdies but this is very welcome. Lovely shot, the eyes are captivating. Really good work.

What a break...
Great picture with very good details, and the eyes are going straight through the viewer...

Very nice image Callie it works well, but I preffer the workshop one because it shows some habit and movement of the body. good post though.

Great portrait Callie.
Very good detail and nice colours.
The WS is great too.
Great note.
Very well done.

Callie, :) No I'm not gonna say it... :)

Yet again and once more... Callie, jokes aside I do believe you have the ability to capture birds, animals and the like with great panache. But it's your mugshots that impresses me the most. You capture facial expressions, poses and emotions in a manner I can just dream of. I don't care if its birds or other beasts... Bring 'em mugshots on.

Die 16valve van die natuur se ogies. Very well capture and as Gerhard your portraits make me jealous. Funny, some guys call a pub a "Drink dammetjie" too. After our chat last week I had to try a ws on this. I flipped it and upped the contrast a bit. I am also sure that this flipping thing will differ between left handed and right handed people as well

Beautiful coloring, beautiful markings and stunning eyes this cheetah has. This is a super shot Callie points to ya.

Very nice shot, Callie. Yes, I have also seen these cheetah at the Lion and Rhino Park, but they did not even take the trouble to lift their heads!!!

Otro retrato excelente de estos felinos maravillosos.
Gran encuadre, con bellos colores y atinado DOF.
Lo incluiré en mi tema de Grandes Gatos... gracias por compartirla.

Another excellent portrait of these wonderful felines.
Great frame, with beautiful colors and accurate DOF.
I will include in my Theme of Great Cats... thanks for sharing.

Callie, you not only have beautiful subjects to take photos at, but you do it very well, really. This one is just beautiful.

Callie, great "mug" shot. Up close you've given the viewer an intimate view into this beautiful animals soul. The "character" scratches I see on the snout, the eyes and texture of the coat all come into play. An excellent portrait of a magnificent animal!!

Lovely close up, colours and dof spot on. I love the workshop cat too.

Thats a cool pic of a cool cat, excellent photo, amazing details

Uitstekend werk. Good job.

A real beauty,a lovely shot.
Excellent colours and DoF.
Great work,very well done indeed.

Nice capture of "watching you watching me" ;-)) Good details and light.
Btw did you know that two cheetah cubs were born in a zoo near here on Saturday night? It made big news here, as it's the first time a cheetah has given birth to live cubs in any zoo "in the North" - don't know exactly what the north covers, though, whether that's Scandinavia or whether it includes all of Northern Europe.. Anyway, the Zoo has live coverage from the pen, so if you'd like to visit Agnes and her two cubs, you can see them at the homepage of Ebeltoft Zoo. The text is in Danish, but if you wait a while, the grey box will open into streaming video (or whatever it's called) showing pictures from the pen. At the time of writing one cub is breastfeeding, the other sleeping ;-))

Very good colours, and nice composition.
Well done.

WoW... Amazing portrait!
Excellent colors, excellent sharpness!
The BG near the ears is a bit of a problem because the colors are very similar and you lose some of the ears in the BG.
But I love the eye of the leopard!

Very very very WellDone!

Anie, what a beautiful animal. This gives me the feeling that I am next to him.
Great shot.
Pamela
