Spottedbacked weaver

The Ploceidae, or Weavers, are small passerine birds related to the finches.

These are seed-eating birds with rounded conical bills, most of which breed in sub-Saharan Africa, with fewer species in tropical Asia and also in Australia. The weaver group is divided into the buffalo, sparrow, typical, and widow weavers. The males of many species are brightly coloured, usually in red or yellow and black, some species show variation in colour only in the breeding season.(wiki)

I photographed this Weaver in Kruger's main restcamp Skukuza.

Thanks for looking...

Hi Annick. A very brightly coloured bird. I think the black on its face makes it stand out even more. It has a cross look about it. good detail and colours. well done TFS.

PS how long were you in Africa you must have taken 1000s of pictures.

Hallo Annick,

Hi Annick,

The bird itself is technically outstanding but I think the way the background colours complement the bird is the spice to the image.

Hello Annick.
Great capture of this small bird with exuberant coloration!
Very good details and framing.
This background enriches the first plan.

The colors here are stunning. I love the composition, the pose, and how it is so detailed that the color of the eye is right there. This is a vibrant bird with stunning clarity. Excellent job.

Hello Annick,

The bird has very nice colors well rendered as the light is falling from behind the subject. Contrast between black and yellow feathers looks great. Also the background with many color tones looks very good. The eye of the bird with its redish color is atracting viewers attention.

Thank you for sharing,
