[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This large species of lizard, growing to sizes between 20 and 30 cm, is a Southern tree agama (Acanthocercus atricollis).
This male in mating colors is photographed in South Africa's Kruger National Park. In main restcamp Skukuza
during sunset.

They tend to stay in environments of open plains with scattered trees. They stay close to the trees. They are also commonly found in urban areas, clinging onto the sides of buildings. This male was a few meters away from its scattered tree. Most of the time it was in the tree with its female counterpart.

Have a nice weekend!

Update out of the blue: I don't know whether this is a male or female?
There were two animals. The other one's head was definitely bluer.

Update2: I think it is the male after all. Maybe it's the changing lighting conditions, generating a different kind of blue. I don't think it can change its colors so fast?

Superb, Annick!
Great close portrait of this male Southern Tree Agama. Can't fault it! The low POV and colours are especially great against a fine neutral BG.
Well done and thanks for sharing this beauty,

Hallo Annick,
Weer een mooie foto van deze hagedis. Vooral de scherpte en de blik waarmee hij je aankijkt is prachtig. Schitterend contrasterende kleuren tegen de vage achtergrond.
Perfecte compositie.

Hi Annick,
this is great, with the perfect focus and the nice bokeh, the
lizard standout nicely.
Well composed with very fine low POV and amazing colours.
Mat it's a but tight to the left but that's a minor nit.
Great work.

Beautiful capture with very good sharpness, DOF and natural (but vivid) colours). I like this close-up/portrai a lot.
You done a very good work Annick, this picture can not be overlooked in TN gallery :)
Best greetings and have a nice weekend!
Friendly yours,
Radomir

Although not entirely blue, it contains enough to make it an unusual grouping of colours well seen here and added to the them of blues, as it does have that as a majority...and of course well seen by a person with the good fortune to visit such wonderful natural areas in the world!

Waaw Annick, this is fantastic! A wonderful portrait of this male, the colors are fantastic and the details super! This time 2 points are not enough,my best best compliments, have a nice weekend,Luciano

I'm not sure, but it does look like a male Annick, whatever, it has such a natural beauty, captured expertly in a good, lateral POV, with fine exposure and just the necessary amount of DOF. That OOF BG makes the image jump right towards the beholders eyes!
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hello Annick,
wonderful colours in combination with the excellent sharpness make this an attractive
portrait of the agama. You managed that also the underside is well exposed so that its structures and
colours are nicely visible. Some days ago, I posted a portrait of a bearded agama, exceptionally a
picture taken in a zoo in Germany.
Best wishes, Peter

What a beautiful colored and patterned reptile. The scale detail is wonderful.
