[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was quite lucky to capture this special moment of fight between that European Green Blowfly and the tiny Tetramorium capense Ant. Clearly unfair contest, but seems the Ant(David) is the troublemaker. The Fly on the other side look a bit unaware of the situation or may be even confused.
Lots of information has been written for this specific fly and not much about that Ant so I will mention some basic info here:

Tetramorium capense is a small (body length 2-3mm)specie. Workers reddish brown with dark brown abdomen, 2-segmented waist, last part of thorax with 2 backward-pointed spines. Queens similar but slightly larger.

Biology: Does not run in trails. Nests below ground, entrance surrounded by crater of soil. Predatory, mainly on termites.

Habitat: Diverse.

Hola George

Hello George,
Yes, certainly you are setting records with the approach! great job! difficult to understand as you have made precise details (especially ants) taking into account the size of these insects. The timing, by itself, it is worthy of appreciation! I have my reservations about the use of shutter speeds of 1/60s to photograph insects such in cases like this (where two or more insects interacting)... I think that "something could move" ... but I see that this is just an unfounded fear on my part, because the result is fantastic!
TFS, regards, Jesús

Hello George.

A great zctionshot you show us here and you have managed the picture in a way that we can guess of who is taking whom.
Great details.
I think it's a matter of personal taste but it seems to me that you used your flas and i think thak kind of lighting makes the colors a little hard, also makes by the reflections.
But overall a very pleasant picture to look at.

Hello George,
here is another picture of a scientific kind, full of details and colors. Good shot!

Bonsoir George,

Great closeup. Great sharpness. Rich saturated colors, the accentuated contrast give the image a lot of graphism. Side view help to manage a good sharpness despite the low DOF. Did you obtain such magnification just with the 70mm macro or did you use extender or extension tubes? Do you use focusing rail? TFS.

Alain

Hi George,

an great macro shot from this fly and prey ant.

Hello George,
Although I find the colours a bit over saturated, this is an amazing sharp detailed photo with an original action. I don't know who is the winner. Great DOF, composition and POV. Fascinating photo!

Peter
