Crab Spider

Body color is variable ranging from brightly colored (pink, green, yellow, red) to dark brown or grey with a mottled appearance. Their abdomens are variable in shape being triangular, round to ovoid to elongate, sometimes extending tail-like past the spinnerets. They have eight eyes arranged in two rows (4:4) with the lateral eyes usually on distinct tubercles. Their legs are very distinct with the front legs usually longer than the hind legs. The front legs frequently have a series of strong spines on the tibiae and metatarsi to assist in catching prey. The brush-like setae on the tip of each leg facilitate their movements on plants.

Hallo George,
never seen a crab spider with two colours before, it's a beaty.
The spider is pin sharp and the rest in soft focus, it's great to view.
The WB and exposure are absolute accurate, beautiful natural colours and a nice POV.
Well done, my friend.

Hello George,
This SA Crab spider is very colourful to match the flowers it uses and is more striking than those we have in my country.
The technical standar is top with excellent sharpness and the use of flash not apparently affecting the colour quality.
Typical crab spider pose taken from a great POV and set in a fine composition in the flower.
Thanks and best regards,
Ivan

Amazing photo, the combination of the radiating lines with the position of the crab spider makes for a wonderful photo. regards yiannis

Hello George,
The radial pattern of the OOF petals serves very well to enhance the subject of your image over and above its excellent sharpness. I wonder what full sharpness would have been like, if that kind of DOF is attainable at all under the circumstances. A very pleasant image too view. Best wishes.

Hi George,

Wonderful macro! The combination of the crisp, colourful spider, and the subtle, blurred, complementary BG is first rate. Try as I might, I've never been able to capture such a terrific macro. So beautifully and artistically composed, as well. TFS.

John
