Crab spider and a Spotted Maize Beetle sharing a space. At first seems that a conflict will emerge here but ...not at all, the Crab spider was watching with interest
and maybe curiosity the Spotted Maize Beetle who was busy collecting nectar from the flower and unaware of the hunter in front of it.

Spotted Maize Beetle

The spotted maize beetle, Astylus atromaculatus, is also known as the Astylus beetle or the pollen beetle. The adult feeds on pollen, but will also attack the soft, young kernels of maize cobs when the silks are wilting off. Larvae can reduce seedling stands drastically. Larvae are also known to drill into maize pips, preventing their germination.

Life-cycle

Adults live for several months during the summer and are usually most abundant during January and February, there being only one generation a year. They lay eggs in clusters under dry leaves on the ground. Eggs hatch after two weeks. Larvae take six months or longer to mature and usually hibernate in the soil, where they pupate.

The pupal period lasts about two weeks.

I'll have to list down the things that I like in this frame my friend George. The watermark is definitely one of its kind and brilliantly engraved in this balanced framing. The two beautiful specimens are well anchored and look ready to take on one another. The macro capture is beautiful and a great looker for my weekend.
Kind regards,
Jusni

Ciao George. Razor details excellente sharp from the top POV. Magnificent environment!

Hello Friend George,
the South African shots really dominates the view- birds, elephants, kruger, and starting from the biggest animals, landscape, and even these insects.
The sharing factors really emerge as its best theme here.
So lovely in colours and clarity as well as backgroud.
Very wonderful piece of composition.

Hi George.
You probably originally prepared figure rotated 180 degrees. However, the composition works so. And composition is really great. Fine sharp details and beautiful colors makes this presentation to a pleasant for eye. Beautifully captured meetings of various kinds. However, spider will continue to wait for their prey. Well presented, thanks for sharing.
Best regards

Hello George,
Excellent sharp detailed photo in very beautiful contrasting colours. Nothing to camouflage here. Great white balance. Taken from a good POV in a pleasing, upside down, composition.

Hello friend George, I turned the monitor to read the author of this photo but then I am convinced that the composition of the picture was better to see how you've published. A great image though, and captured a great moment of life. Best wishes, Paul

Hi George,
I laughed a lot with the title of this picture! ... Good job, with different elements delightfully captured, and an "uncertain outcome" ¿was saved the tiny beetle?.
By the way ...The photo is upside down! ...Or at least your signature is upside down! :)
Regards, TFS, Have a good Sunday George friend!

Hi George,
What a shot! This is a once in a lifetime shot. Great sharpness and beautifull colours. Great shot!

Both the subjects are in sharp focus and dispaly rich natural colours. The suspense remains; did the hunter go for the kill or not?
Brilliant capture from top perspective.

Hello George,
Love the title! Very interesting shot of both specimens, showing excellent detail and beautiful coloration. I find the diverse coloration of crab spiders very intriguing. I have seen many photos of them on TN, and some are simply gorgeous. I realize though that most people don't think of spiders as being beautiful. Great work!!
