[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today I had the honor to shoot with two of my favorite photographers namely Callie and Gerhard., and what did we shoot – Cheetahs!!! I don’t think that these cheetahs have been photographed in a long time. A rough calculation of 800 to a 1000 shots in a bit more than 3 hours. I would also like to mention that these two guys are just as good, if not better than their photographs (I have to emphasize that I did not say better looking)

My post from today is about the King Cheetah and I include a Large Post with this.

Callie, Gerhard and myself have posted info on the normal cheetah and that info is relavant for the King Cheetah as well. So what is a King Cheetah?

The King Cheetah, once thought to be a separate sub-species, is an African Cheetah exhibiting a rare fur pattern mutation. A recessive gene must be inherited from both parents in order for this "blotchy" pattern to appear. First discovered in Zimbabwe in 1926, this very rare animal has been seen in the wild only 6 times. It has been known to exist in Zimbabwe, Botswana and in the northern part of South Africa's Transvaal province. The DeWildt Cheetah Research Centre in South Africa specializes in breeding this cat in captivity

Our “hunting” trip today was conducted at the De Wildt Research center close to the town of De Wildt.

Here are some links to the info that Gerhardt, Callie and myself have posted on previous occasions.

They make a tremoundous panel. I like the last one the most although they are all exceptional. Excellent work Japie, glad you had a productive day. I hope Gerhard got a little sidetracked with bugs?

Excellent work, thanks for posting.

The King... en la primer imagen parecería que estuviera a punto de comerte... jejeje.
Bonita composiocion con distintos POV y distancias a este maravilloso felino.
Muy buena presentacion, al igual que las notas.
(oops... puntos mañana)

The King... in the first image would seem that he was on the verge of eating to you... jejeje.
Pretty composition with different POV and distances from this wonderful feline.
Very good presentation, like the notes.
(oops... points tomorrow)

Glad that you had a successfull hunt with the others, this set makes it very clear the differences between this and the ordinary cheetah, nice one for that alone. the quality of the 3 is great, I particularly like the 1st one with eyes srewed up and those beautiful teeth all in view. The dappled light works well here too.

I tell you the same as Callie: After watching this one, I cant wait to see the rest. Please leave some point left for the modest members :-D
Thanks very much for posting this beauty Japie, I am happy you took advantage of the opportunity very much.

beaucoup plus paisible que l'animale de callie , il n'en ai pas moin beau !
j'aime beaucoup la photo ou il baille et celle du milieu ou il parait si fatigué !
bonne pdc et jolie couleur font de cette scene un tres belle photo.
good work.

Good shots! I particularly like the expression you've managed to capture in the left hand panel here. On the centre image I'd be tempted to remove the dead leaf towards the bottom right of the frame - but you could hardly be expected to do that ;) A very nice set of images indeed :-D

Great LP Japie.
It's very good , all three pictures.
Great details and nice colours.
A very good presentation.
Excellent note.
Well done.

Excellent panel of photos, Japie. I like the image on the left most of all. Very good work. I would love to see more.

Très belle trilogie Japie, j'adore !
Felicitations, les photos sont magnifiques et les mettre en format panoramique était une très bonne idée.

WOW! Japie, you paid great homage to the king in this set. All the photos are very nice. Love the 1st one the most. Great capture. Thanx for the day it was great.

Fantastic set Japie - really stunning. Excellent colours, lots of details, perfect light and not forget the wonderful expression in their faces - especially the left frame. Congratulations - I wish I were there.
