[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I had captured this Photograph of 'African Darter' at Lake Panic Hide at Skukuza, Kruger National Park, South Africa. One of my favourite places in the park is Lake Panic situated near to Skukuza Rest Camp is a birders Paradise. There are only 8 cars are allowed at a time, offering visitor to the hide a spot of a peace in an otherwise busy region. The hide overlooks a large dam in the very beautiful Sabie river.

* From Skukuza drive out to the four-way stop and turn right on the H11. After 4 Km turn right onto the S42 and follow this little road for 1.5 km until you reach the hide.

* Me and my wife reached there just before Sunset and were lucky to get such warm color of GOLDEN HOUR.

* The African Darter (Anhinga africana), sometimes called the Snake Bird, is a water bird of Sub-Saharan Africa. The African Darter is found throughout Sub-Saharan Africa wherever large bodies of water occur. The female and immature birds are brown in color. It is an 80 cm Cormorants like fish-eating species with a very long neck and, like other anhingas. Unlike other water birds, the feathers of African Darter do not contain any oil and are therefore not waterproof. After diving for fish, the feathers can become waterlogged. In order to be able to fly and maintain heat insulation, it needs to dry its feathers. Thus the African Darter is often seen sitting along the water side spreading its wings and drying its feathers.
