[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have captured this 'Bennett's Woodpecker' (Campettera bennettii) in Kruger National Park during our early morning game drive. It was a totally cloudy day; not a bit of sunlight; except bit reddish grey clouds. But I like such challenging atmosphere from where I could learn something by myself. I'm impressed capturing this picture even in such low light, using high ISO. Here I didn't give much space in front of the bird, because its head turned bit towards me although it was climbing. If its beak was upwards, deffinately I would given bit more space in front of it.

It's a female Bennett's Woodpecker. Female has characteristic brown throat (You can see it clearly in my picture) and stripe bellow the eyes (You can see it clearly in picture). Forehead is spotted white on black and the hind crown is red.

Hi Srikumar,

The bird is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showing with precision the details of the Bennett's Woodpecker. The good luminosity is bringing out the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Srikumar,
What a gorgeous woodpecker you have presented to us. I love the array of colorful markings it wears in its plumage. The chestnut brown cheek patch it wears reminds me of a woodpecker I saw once out west, the Arizona woodpecker (Leuconotopicus arizonae).
Excellent detail and very good exposure, especially considering the low lighting you experienced. Wonderful eye contact with a bit of that ever sought after..catchlight.
When you say high ISO, how high do you mean? I usually never shoot over 800 because I'm afraid of getting too much noise.

光線不是很亮麗 但是有另一種溫軟的感受

Waaw Srikumar, this is great! Impressive close up of this beautiful woodpecker made in a great exposure and perfect sharpness...no needs other words, the pic talk himself. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Perfect portrait - congratulation

Hi Sri,
Your "high ISO experience" turned out very well, the photo is absolutely noise-free. Composition, exposure and DoF are perfect also, probably I might add a little extra sharpening on the bird after the re-sizing procedure, but a very good photo otherwise. Thanks for sharing this beauty.
Kind regards from Ireland, László
