[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I had captured this 'Hamerkop' (Scopus umbretta) in Kruger National Park during our staying at Olifant Rest Camp. It was almost 12 O click when we were returning from our morning game drive, saw this wading bird waiting for fish. Light was harsh and had a chance of getting much shadow area as well as blown out feathers. So, here I reset my Camera setting to get at least a decent picture of this species in its natural habitat.

The shape of its head will tell you why it's called 'Hamerkop'.

The strangest aspect of Hamerkop behavior is the huge nest, sometime more than 1.5 meters (4 ft 11 inch) across and strong enough to support a man's weight!

Hello Srikumar,
I like this pose much better then the one I saw. You can see a lot more detail in its plumage as well as seeing its legs. I actually thought mine was a type of duck until I looked it up. Great capture!!

Ciao Srikumar, great capture of curious bird, fine details, wonderful natural colors and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Srikumar,

The blurred background is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the Hamerkop, The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Hi Sri,
Simplistic yet amazing photo with fine details on the plumage and very good sharpness. Background might IMHO be a little more mish-mashed, otherwise a superb shot. Congratulations!
Kind regards from Ireland, Laszlo
