The brown snake eagle (Circaetus cinereus)
Place - Kruger National Park, South Africa

The Brown Snake Eagle is a fairly large species of bird of prey in the family Accipitridae. It is found in West, East and southern Africa. This species is an almost obligate predator of a variety of snakes. A very solitary bird, the brown snake eagle has a prolonged breeding cycle and raises a single eaglet. Although probably naturally scarce, it is classified as a Least concern species as it continues to occur over a very broad range.

About White Background:I got so many comments on about my white background. Let me clarify it. Don't you use white background in your passport photograph? Doesn't it work? I use such techniques only while I found background is flat like pale greyish or less attractive. I just change my camera setting in such way that it provides me wash out background. To me it looks better than dull sky/background.

very nice composition with good sharpness and lovely colours

Hi Srikumar,

The branches are helping to frame the bird. The point of view is showing the details of the Brown Snake Eagle. The gray sky does not hurt the colors output. Have a nice day.

Hi Sriukmar, the typical pose of the eagle in a beautiful capture, the usual perfect exposure and sharpness, the eye details are a masterwork! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hi Sri,
The eagle is very nice, and the background is less disturbing, because it has a little grey-ish tint, not fully white, therefore not blinding the viewer. Great details on the plumage. And about the last few sentences of your note: in case of passport photos the white background works well, but this site is TrekNature, not TrekPassport. ;-)
Kind regards from Ireland, László
