|This poor little guy was actuially very sick by the looks of it. He was nearby the little cottage I was staying in the eastern Cape and I noticed him come out from the field near a horse that was standing there. He then sat down on the side of the dirt road. This was one taken as we coaxed him up as there was a large tractor wanting to pass and he was in the way. I am sure he did not make it very long. Unfortunately, I did not see him again after this afternoon.|
Adjusted the contrast a bit as the sun was very bright and not the best time to take pics. Sharpened, resized and posted.

poor thing! It's visible that he is very sick. As much as it hurts watching photos like this, we have to admit that this is part of real life, and that is not a sweet dream but harsh conditions, predators, diseases; made only for the fittest to survive.

Hi Tim, poor thing - it doesn't look too good. I hope it didn't suffer. I wonder what was wrong?
Good shot though, the composition is very good and I like the colours. Well done.
Excellent shot. Vey good colors and sharp detail. Sad, but only the strong and healthy survive in the wild.
Quite sad picture...
The POV and details are very good, nice colours too. The pose of this poor animal helps to get interesting whole too.
Well done and thanks for sharing
poor little chap...this is however what nature is all about...disease, recovery, or wasteage
its real and says a lot
i just hope it hadnt been drinking some effluent from a power station or chemical works..i had a little one like this on show recently..i didnt realise it was sick when i took the shot
w/s to try my hand at sharpening..
Oooohh, such a poor guy - that's nature.
