Wonderful portrait and a really humorous expression. It is interesting that zebras make the same faces as the more common donkeys. Perfect focus and almost a 3D effect. Poor zebra mothers, a gestation period of 375 days! And I thought 40 weeks was bad, LOL!

Humouristic shot, Loot, where life imitates animation! The image is also well composed with good sharpness and contrast. The DOF was perfect to blur the background just enough to make the subject stand out while retaining a pleasant natural look of the natural habitat.

By your thumbnails gallery I see that you have a lot of wonderful pictures, especially the animals heads. I have no time for many comments today, therefore I choose this funny zebra to write this note.
Beautiful portrait of a zebra!
very nice and funny pic! Composition is very good, perfect moment, BG is the appropiate for the zebra colours.
PD: I write a reply of your critique.

What a pose, and be glad that he didn't ran away when you showed him yours. :-)
I can see that your gained your knowledge of PP work in a later stage as well. The colors and DOF are great, but comparing with the last few positings, this one needs some sharpness. Overall, an excellent photo.

Hi Loot, I find your notes really interesting.
A great shot, being able to catch this young Zebra smelling the air. I think the colours of the Zebra are great, same with the background.
The Zebra looks fairly young, his teeth are so white and straight. If Zebras are like horses, as they age their front teeth start to push outward and get quite discoloured.
TFS Janice :)
I choose one of your earlier ones, as I love laughing donlies, I was not yet lucky to nail one. Have a look at Japie's portfolio, he has the class-clown, similar to yours. I still hear a tractor starting ehen I see that picture!
I have done a WS for you, have a look.

I can't believe I didn't already compliment U on this one! Hierdie streepiesman het nie tand borstel nie! Apart from that he seems to have a strange way of sniffing out a rival! What is this about die tand die Loot het? Bigger? I hope better kept! ;)
Lekker naweek man, Jaapkop
PS As expected, excellent Notes; properly creditted. Struik Publishers will be happy ;)

for me this is the best zebra on the site...
let me explain. all the others are very static - yours is so dynamic.
i came to this site because i have a small company of one person (myself!) and called it 'The Big Black & White Zebra'! i have a design consultancy.
i designed a letterhead with your 'laughing zebra' for myself... however, i don't want to use it if you have any objections.
can you let me know? you can send me a mail on [email protected]

Suffice to say it's one of those special photos that "speaks" to the heart.

Hi Loot - What a smile :-)
Baie mooi foto Loot. Ek het nou die dag op Animal Planet fotos gesien waar hulle besig was om 'n tier se hare te skeer. Het jy geweet die vel het oop strepe soos die hare? Wonder is dit dieselfde is met Zebras?
This is a great portrait and I am sure it will provide you with a lot of memories in future. The composition is great and the exposure is spot-on. Photographically this is done well and you had the perfect model for this excellent shot. This guy had to proof that he is camera-friendly, and did exceptionally well. The expression on the zebra’s face is just to die for and there are not many of this comical but same time good quality images around. A brilliant capture with good eye and teeth contact. Thanks for sharing and a big smile back!
