Taken from the sunroof of the car - hand held and trying to keep the rain off the camera - must have been worth a picture in its own right!

These two males were competing and puffing up at each other. The rainy conditions were not ideal and I sat there more than an hour and took over 100 shots, to get maybe 3 good enough ones to show you guys! This is the first one. They must be about 20 odd metres away and I had the car off the road against the reeds. Lighting and rain did not allow great quality, but I think you will agree that these are beautiful birds. I did post one some months ago that did a little better justice to the species.

Your thoughts and ideas will be appreciated as always. The next post will be of the same pair in a different position, wait for it.... Have a great evening all of you.

Hi Tim, very nice shot, its so nice to learn about all the different bird species. Impressed with all the colourful difference. I was wondering what kind of flash you used.
And my personal question would be if you can share some about the place where you took the picture. Im now reading a lot about your country and Im fascinitated by all the nature. So for me its nice to locate your pictures. But its a personal preference, so maybe its not that interesting for others.
Thanks Reina

An interesting composition with very good detail, colors and light Tim. These are beautifully colored birds. Very distinctive look going on there :-) Well done!

What a gorgeous pair of birds. It is hard for me to imagine such gems to be just flying around in the wild. We don't get anything like that in our natural habitats. : P
Very sharp details, beautiful colors, and great composition. TFS. : )

Hi Tim, what brilliant colours these Bishop Birds have. I love seeing them showing off and competing against each other. Was there a female or two around??
Good composition on the bullrushes, well done
