Nature, the best medicine!

I took this landscape and scene at Houtbay outside CapeTown. Yes, I know there are lots of man made lights and goodies around, but it is all enveloped by nature.

I have been working extremely long hours lately, going without a nights sleep on a couple occasions. When I feel that I really cannot go any further, I try to visit and photograph sites and scenes like this one.

Mother nature in all her aspects is really the most beautiful and rewarding experience on this planet. It is just very sad that we abuse her the way we do. I love this image and hope that you like it to. An hour here was about as good as 1 nights sleep

The camera settings:

Program Setting: Manual
Focal Length: 28mm
F Stop: F/22
Shutter Speed: 15 sec
ISO: 100
Tripod: Yes
Flash: No
Reflective Panel: No
Cable release: Yes

NOOOOO!!! Wish I was there. We could share a bunk next time. This is the place to be in SA. Wonderfull, brilliant, exceptional what a shot. I really love this! I know this bay very well frequent it every time I get to the Cape.

That 15 sec. makes this water look outstanding. The colours and textures are just beautiful. You did get advantage of the moment Japie, I feel I am there. Very nice.

I shall go probably never during this life in this place so familiar for you, Japie. Please bring it a little more on my screen.
You should maybe send us a LP version?
The left mountain seems to be a pillow on which a gigantic head rests. It is maybe for it that this panorama seems so restful! ;-)
Thank you

Japie, your Canon can. I like this very much. The sea seems so serene. So unusual for the Cape of Storms. Excellent job. Don't work to hard. Remember too much work makes Japie a dull boy.

Hi Japie, great shot I love it, that's my favorite kind of landscape.
There is just one thing the horizon is not flat. And it has to be flat, I've tried a ws.
Well done.

Very true words and fantastic picture. Not much to say more. I'm glad that all around the globe people like you or others friends from TN love and admire mother nature.
Points tomorrow.

wow, very nice view, even with the human elements, nature seems to add all the beauty!
good compo and nice silouhet of the mountain, well done!

Very fine night shot of this wonderful place! I think the horizon is somewhat tilted to the left!

Now, this is unfair! How can you go up Chapmans's peak and shoot the Centinel in this light when I am stuck up here in Gauteng, this while my son is also down there enjoying the Cape? I might consider changing my holiday destination.
Baie mooi, one of my personal favourite places in the Cape , one I often visited when we were living there.
As a smal nit - the sea is not level. Easy to fix - use the crop tool - pull it outside the frame to the right - it allows you to rotate the crop frame freely - line up the horison with one of the horizontal sides - pull the sides back to get the whole picture, hit enter, and PS wil crop and rotate at the same time, giving you a horizontal sea.
Mt groenes hulle es nie, ek het te veel opvangwerk om in te haal.
Geniet die dag.

I live in LA most of my life. I sat on the beach, or went camping, to escape the city and regain my inner soul! I love the ocean!

Japie, beautiful view with a perfect job of yours. The picture could also be on TN and TE. If you have different versions of it, why not?

Great shot Japie, this is one of the things I intend doing this xmas whilst I'm in the wilderness. Lanscapes are always facinating and this is a memorable shot

Well done

Hi Japie,
Well I do so love the cape.Slower shutter speed has created a silky soft feel about the sea, and your exposure being spot on has produced a professional looking photograph.Mooi so !
