[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Near Lebata Camp in Kruger National Park - It was late afternoon when I came across a herd of elepahnts with a very young calf. The herd immediately surrounded the enfant and one adolescent male made a false charge. The matriarch of the herd stood "hiding" seperate from the herd. After 5 minutes the matriarch trumpeted and the herd disappeared into the bush.

This was also an example of how well elephants blend in with the landscape. I stood there watching them walk into the bush with the last swinging tail entering the bush. If I had not seen them walk in I would not have know they were there.

Michael,

Welcome to TN.
Good to see you have posted a pic from my favourite place in the whole world - Kruger National Park. The Kruger will fall under Limpopo Province if you were in Letaba and not Free State as you have it as a location.

The scene that you have captured is a typical one for that region with the Mopane trees very evident around the subject. The side Lighting is soft and I look forward to some more pics from the KNP that you may want to post. Your note is informative of the scene that you encountered too.
