The light is perfect: you're right this can really change the way your subject looks. In this case it gives the "woof" it needs. Wonderful background, great pose and composition.

Hi Callie. What a beautiful pose and composition you got here, I agree with you this is the kind of shots that make photography more amusing.
The focus is not your best, maybe could have forced just a little bit more USM, but with that vivid colours and patterns is very nice, thanks for posting.

Oh, that look is almost hypnotical. Beautiful bird and very well presented - great colours and excellent control of light and dof. You are right about this kind of light - only I would not like to shoot gull in it but of course they are not the most common birds in your huntingfield I presume;-).

I wonder what creates this blue halo around all which is not blue.
Anyway, a great one, with tons of details. And what an attitude: "Who dare to photograph me? Oh! It is Callie? I am thus going to take my angry and concentrated sight, that is going to please those who will see this photo on my diagonal perch!"

Oef hier wil ik geen klauw van krijgen Callie, een kleine vogel maar zeer snel, mooi in zijn veren en juist op het moment dat hij naar beneden kijkt waardoor ook zijn ogen voor een stuk te zien zijn.

What a moment and pose. This image has attitude and the colors are great. The eye contact here combined with the stance makes for a winner. Very good sharpness and DOF as well.
