Can't help for the ID. No such eagle in my Field Guide to the Birds: North America. More similar: Golden Eagle.
A great shot with a lot of details.
It is good to have difficult custommer from time to time.
Thanks Gerhard!

Great shot Gerhard, brilliant colours and clarity. Great background and note. I also thought Royal Eagle (aka golden eagle), But agree with Willie now, definately a Tawny.
Well done!

Fantastik shot Gerhard, sharpness is superb and that yellow/blue beak is a great contrast to the color of the rest of the bird, the eyes are just piercing as if they can look right through you. I hope he makes it back to the wild again, that's where they belong. Perhaps one day I'll have such beautiful material to offer on this site.

Wonderful close-work Gerhard. No nits. I had my first opportunity to photograph a wild hawk here in Texas over the weekend. It landed at approx. 30 feet from me but as soon as I aquired it in my lens it was gone. You know, that "empty frame" syndrome is a killer! ;-)
Gerhard, another amazing shot of yours. How far were you from the bird?
Everything here seems perfect to me: POV, DOF, sharpness and composition.
Congratulations.

Daar sit ek hom nou net vir jou in 40!
Pragtig, hoekom het jy my nie gevra vir die ID nie - ek kon hom op die thumbnail herken.
This is beautiful no nits, love the mugshot!
Tawny, Not Steppe - look at the gape, to the middle of the eye, he Steppe goes to the back of the eye.
Booted is smaller.
