Ground Hornbill (Bucorvus leadbeateri)
I took this picture between Satara and Olifants camps in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. It was taken at 14:20.
The Ground Hornbill is a turkey-sized black bird with red face and throat. The female has a blue throat patch. They prefer open grassy areas in thornveld and broad-leafed woodland.
We saw several foraging in areas were the grass was burned.
Woman will envy their eyelashes.

Yes! their eye lashes must be the envy of many ladies out there. I managed to get a decent shot of these beauties ony recently. very good close up here, showing details of that menacing beak. TFS!
