Cape Weaver.

Length 16 - 18 cm

Male: Mostly yellow in breeding plumage with a burnt orangeflush to the head and throat., pale yellow eyes and sharp pointed black bill.
Females and non breeding males:
Olive brown above and whitish below., with a yellow wash over the face and breast. Th eyes are dark drown in the female
The bill shape indicates a more insectivorous and herbivorous diet.
Habits and breeding. The build their nest above water. It is a fallacy that weavers pick leaves from off branches surrounding their nests to prevent snakes from entering. The truth is that snakes can enter their nests with ease. The true purpose of leaf stripping is so that the male can be seen whilst hanging under the nest flapping his wings to attract a female.
Performance needs an open stage.

Willie, another beautiful picture. Beautiful colors, nice composition and sharpness, as well as another interesting note. Besides, I do enjoy BG.

It's a beautifull bird that always has that intense eye. It is sharp and well composed. The exposure looks a bit high key but it's not distracting. Nice shot Well done.

Hi Willie
One of my favorite "thieves" - nice pose and the eye is sending the message that he is in breeding frenzy, well done.
