This shot of a thorn tree was taken on 'Weni farm' near Melmoth. On this overcast day the contrast between the cloads, the grass and the tree inspired me to take this shot

To me this tree means Africa. I see this tree in magazines and on TV. Is this tree dying or has it just lost it's leaves? I like the composition of the tree as it is in your photo. The darker clouds creates a quite mood.

So that is the famous thorn tree. Thanks for posting it. The foreground texture is really nice and I agree that the strong contrast of tree and sky is striking. I might have cropped just a tad off the top to give the tree a little more prominence in the frame.
