Common endemic resident in the south of South-Africa.
Pairs in variety of habitats from forest fringes to Karoo; a common garden species in many regions where suitable flowering plants are present.
Calls a harsh: 'zzik-zzik' and a soft, abrupt 'swik, swik'; also has a high-pitched, swizzling song.
12,5 cm.

This photo is taken in the beautiful Botanic Gardens of Kirstenbosch.

Hallo Peter,
Zo te zien wordt hier uit volle borst gezongen door dit prachtige vogeltje. Mooie compositie met prachtige kleuren. Scherpte van het vogeltje is misschien een beetje soft. Goede diepte met mooie achtergrond.

Very interesting and unique photo with very unusual but beautiful colors. Great composition. Razor sharp focus and outstanding exposure.

Nice capture. I like it very much even though the bird is a bit soft, perhaps a higher shutter speed or f-stop would have improved the sharpness. Not for me to say too much as you seem to be a very experienced photographer. I looked at all your photos and you have done very well in South Africa.
