Hi all,

Just returned from our trip through the kruger national park,it was an amazing adventure and we had a lot of amazing, nice and sometimes frightning confrontations with the wildlife of the krugerpark, here a posting of a female klipspringer on guard, picture is taken on our evening drive near a bridge on the H4-1 close to Lower Sabie on some rocks, the male was laying a few meters away from her.

Living in pairs or small groups, klipspringer are very territorial, and inhabit rocky hills or koppies. They obtain most of their water from juicy plants, and are therefore rather unusual in not being dependent on water.

I shot this picture out from the carwindow using a beanbag as stabilization, the klipspringer was about 30 meters away and I cropped the picture a bit, resized and sharpened a bit before upload.

Hi Paul

Ha-ha-ha, I just had to laugh when I saw this posting. Not because there's anything wrong or funny with the photo, but because of fond memories and the knowledge that you also had a wonderful time. At least it seems like you're none-the-worst after your "frightening confrontations" with the wildlife of the Kruger Park. It is a great place, isn't it?

I know all too much how difficult it is to photograph these klipspringers. As you point out, they "are very territorial, and inhabit rocky hills or koppies" and these are normally not so close to the road. So, to see that the posting is slightly soft in details are no wonder since the cropping must have cost you a bit. Anyway, it is a wonderful shot set with a lovely composition, great POV, and a splendid pose from this little antelope. Further the photo has excellent exposure, stunning natural colours, and a brilliant BG that is both OOF and complimentary to the subject.

I’m anxiously waiting to see the rest of your trip, but I'll just have to be patient.

Good work and TFS.

very nice, TFS Ori

Hi Paul

This is a splendid capture from you!
Kruger is indeed a very special place and it seems that some animals from there are seem to have really good maners, too.
Take this one for example: it saw you wanting to photograph it, so she got out of the vegetation and climbed that rock, to give you a superb pose and no FG interference :) Also, that charming pose allowed you to isolate the subject from the BG wonderfully.
The details are great, the natural colors are lovely and the composition is charmning.

Bravo and TFS
