[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Elephant is captured on a sunset drive we made in the skukuza area,in the kruger nationalpark the possibility is there to join sunset or night drives, you are making a guided game drive outside the normale gate opening times, with of course the possibilities to see for example the nocturnial animals,we did it 2 times during our trip and seen a lot during these drives and accordig to us a must to do when the possibility is there, this elephant was real close to our vehicle as this is an uncropped version (I used only 50 mm of my sigma 50-500mm),I used fill fash to brighten things up,

TFW and Hope you like him

A night shot of an elephent - super stuff and an interesting note as well!

Lovely detail here, good impression of the texture of the Elephant's hide. I'm surpised at the f/9 aperture?

Hi Paul,
Great capture, must have been thrilling to be that close. The flash worked excellent in bringing out some nice detail. Did this not spook the elephant. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, this is a close encounter! I really would like to go to the Kruger parc (we have friends who have been there) but unfortunately because of my sickness (and the medication) i can't leave Europe for now... ;o) Hopefully that will change in the near future.

What camp did you stay in inside the parc?

How impressive!

Salut Paul

Hi Paul, well done on this night shot. I love elephants and you have captured this one very well. Great detail and sharpness and well framed.

A beautiful clear shot, the beast looks so close!
Well taken...

Hello Paul,
What big, great are they, and so close.
I know that they can scare you.
But it still is an amazing beautifull animal.

Hello Paul,
So what is it about Elephants? I love them so much....but I have never had the opportunity to see them in the wild. I have seen them at our local wildlife park "Wild Life Safari" and have ridden on one there....but I think in the wild would be the best place to see and photograph them. This is a slightly different composition since it is at night gives the elephant a more mysterious look about him. For a night time photo you have really captured the color and clarity nicely!

Take care,
Bettina Marie =0)
